Spring Quilling

I’ve really taken quite a liking to quilling lately. There is something so intriguing about huge amounts of rolled up pieces of paper glued into an intricate design!

This time I wanted to make something celebrating the upcoming season—Spring. I love this particular piece because it is versatile enough to be framed, glued to the front of a greeting card or just mixed in with all of the rest of my Spring décor just the way it is!

Satisfying

Being that this hobby is quite unique and does take quite a bit of time (which we all have so little of these days), I actually think of it as being therapeutic. There is something about it that helps pull your attention away from the daily grind as you create various quilled shapes for the finished product. It’s fun, soothing and satisfying all at the same time.

A Template and Shapes

For this particular project I printed out a fun “Spring” design to use as my template. This was my first time using this method so I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. Boy was I in for a big surprise!

I picked out the various quilling paper colors I wanted to use and got started!

For this one I used a variety of tight rolled coils, open/closed marquis (dual colored) and teardops.

I made all of the shapes before gluing them onto the template using Aileene’s All Purpose Tacky Glue.

Once all of my shapes were glued to the template, I finished it off by adding Nuvo Clear Crystal Drops to the word “Spring” for a little more dimension!

This was a very fun project and I hope you give it a try too! Well worth the time! Enjoy and Happy Spring!
