Light up the Room with this Saint Patrick’s Day Lantern

We can all use a little extra luck, can’t we? Let’s see if this lucky jar sparks something in our favor!

This was my first time using etching cream and I tried it out on an empty pasta jar that was headed to the trash can!

Stop right there little jar! It is your lucky day! You’ll be avoiding the garbage this time around!

The etching cream is really cool and I look forward to doing many more projects with it. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the stencil and placed it on the glass! What happened next was amazing!

Here’s What Happened

I removed the label and washed the jar and lid very carefully. Then I grabbed my adhesive stencil and stuck it onto the glass jar tightly being careful to push out any air bubbles.

Next I grabbed some rubber gloves, a paint brush and some Etch Armor etching cream and got started. This stuff has a bunch of warnings on it so I was very careful not to ever let it come into contact with my skin.

I brushed some of the cream onto the stencil and waited about three minutes before rinsing it off under the faucet. Once all of the cream washed way, I removed the stencil. And there it was! Amazing –almost. Did I mention this was my first time using this stuff?

Nonetheless, I was quite impressed with the shamrock that appeared. I grabbed my favorite green vinyl cutout from my Silhouette Cameo and attached it above the shamrock. Perfect!

Even the lid was adorned in a small green vinyl shamrock as well!

Next, I cut out a small piece of brown decorative paper and glued it onto the back of the inside of my jar. Now it was looking a little dark. No can do!

The fairy lights came out and went directly into the jar and it was just as glorious as I’d expected!

Check out out!

Irish you all a lucky day!
