“This is my Happy Place” sign tutorial

I had this piece of wood lying around for quite sometime that was originally intended for a completely different project. It had been sitting there for weeks.

I finally picked it up, brought it inside and began working on that project only to see that things were not going to work out my way. The project failed! Luckily things had to go on and I ended up with this fun sign!

Originally I was going to keep it in my backyard but I realized that it would go best in my craft room!

After all—that is my happy place!

Materials

  • Wooden Board

  • Marker

  • Stenciled Lettering (made by Silhouette Cameo or purchased)

  • Decorative Stickers (also can be made with vinyl using the Silhouette Cameo)

  • Glitter Paper

  • Craft Gemstones

  • Clear Craft Drops

  • The first thing I did was prepare my stencil. Since I didn’t already have one on hand, I used some cardstock and cut one out using my Silhouette Cameo.

  • I placed it on my wooden board and held it in place with some temporary scotch tape.

  • Next I grabbed my marker and began coloring in each letter, removed the stencil and touched up any areas. Then used the clear craft drops over each letter to add dimension.

  • Once that was complete, I used some vinyl on the Silhouette to cut out some white flowers in various sizes and randomly stuck them onto the sign around the lettering. I also cut out some gold circles and added those as well.

  • As a final touch, I glued some blue plastic gemstones around the rest of the sign.

  • For the final step, I covered the entire front of the sign with Mod Podge for protection.

  • Now my project was done!

This was a fun project that was completely unexpected. It has inspired me to plan on making more signs as gifts in the future. I may move it onto my back porch at some point, but for now I think I’ll enjoy it most in my craft room where I’ve been spending a lot of time these days!

I hope you will be inspired to make a sign similar to mine! It was well worth the time! Thanks for visiting!
