The Wiper Fold Birthday Card

A special person’s birthday is coming up! That person is my mom! I wanted to make her an extra special birthday card this year and thought the Wiper Fold Card would be a great choice!

This card is so fun due to the element of surprise. Pull the sides apart and up comes the wiper portion on the top!

Being that it is Springtime, I definitely wanted to pick the appropriate colors. Fun light blues with various pastels were my final choices! And what’s great about this one is that the basic foundation of this card is super basic! After that, the choice of how you decorate is all yours!

Let’s get started

  • Start with two 4”x9” pieces of cardstock.

  • Score each piece at 1 ½” and 3” and create the peaks and valleys as shown.

  • Now cut a third piece of cardstock measuring 1”x 3.” Make mark 1 ¾” down the left side of this piece and create a fold from that point to the bottom right corner

  • Adhere this small piece to the side section of one of the larger pieces of cardstock as shown.

  • And then glue the 2 larger pieces together.

Let’s Decorate

  • I cut out three panels. Panel one: 5” x 3” and and panels two and three measured: 1 ¼” x 3.” I glued all three to the front of my card.

  • Then I chose a floral Happy Birthday panel from the Silhouette Store along with my Happy Birthday Owl for the wiper and glued those on appropriately.

  • As a final touch I added on some glitter drops to add more interest and dimension. Then my card was done! All I had to do now was hold each side and pull outward to see the wiper piece pop up!

Enjoy!
