Each year I like to add a new ornament to the tree. Well, who am I kidding? I like to add several new ornaments to the tree. To be honest, I think the homemade ones are the best. Over time they become more sentimental and nostalgic. Those are the best!
A simple snowman that has a little glow
I have those little battery operated tea lights everywhere. And I only use them as . . .tea lights.
This year, I wanted to try something different. I wanted to make my snowman ornament glow and it did!
Just a few materials
This one is so easy. You only need some white cardstock, yarn, two small sticks, a tealight and something to make the eyes, smile and buttons –like puff paint, a marker or special craft drops.

Tealight Snowman Christmas Ornament Tutorial
Step 1: Start with three circular pieces of white cardstock that go from small to large in size.
Step 2: Use a hole punch to put a hole in the lower part of the smallest circle for the nose. Then insert the tealight.
Step 3: Now glue the round sections of the paper on each edge to create the shape of a snowman.
Step 4: Use some craft drops, puff paint or a black marker to draw on some eyes, a smile and buttons.
Step 5: Take some yarn –preferably in some festive colors like red and green and braid several strands to create a scarf for your ornament. Carefully tie your snowman’s scarf around his neck. Take an additional strand of yarn and create a loop around the top so that he can hang from the tree later.
Step 7: Once dry, add a small amount of cotton to the back of the snowman. Cut out 2 more circles (the size of the largest 2 circles) and glue them onto the back of the snowman over the cotton.
Step 8: Find some cardstock scraps and cut out a hat and glue it onto your snowman’s head.
Step 9: Now turn the light on for his nose and put him onto your Christmas tree.
