I am a fairy light fanatic! What can I say? They can be seen all over my backyard, all around the mantle and throughout the entertainment center.
Â
This all really helps in taking away some of that dark winter gloom. Between fairy lights and candles, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside!
Â
Â
I was thrilled when I came across some pink fairy lights for such an amazing price. I figured why not bring them into the next holiday: Valentine’s Day!
Nothing would be more cozy than pink and white lit decorative lanterns to celebrate the season of love during these chilly days!
Â
I could either make them into a garland draped across the front of the mantle! Or keep them as individual lanterns of love carefully placed around my living room!
Â
At this point, I was excited to get started!
How it went down
Materials:
Solid colored cardstock (pinks and reds preferred)
From side to side (starting from the bottom), score 2”,3”, 1” and then ¾”
Add an additional ½” score to 3 of the 4 bottom squares as shown to create tabs.
Make diagonal cuts on either side of each tab as shown.
6. Add some additional scores as seen below. This will allow you to fold your final product appropriately.
7. Cut a small square into each of the 4 sides of your lantern. (This will be partially covered later by the decorative panels.) Then glue the ends to form your lantern.
Â
8. Cut out some additional panels with your decorative cardstock: four 1 ¾” x 2 ¾” pieces and two 1 ¼” x ½”.
9. Use your preferred paper cutting machine to cut hearts into each of the four decorative panels as well as on each side of the lantern itself .
Â
10. Decorate the lantern to your liking.
11. Punch a hole on the top
12. Add pink fairy lights to the inside and add your string. Make a bow!
13. All done! Enjoy your brand new Lanterns of Love set!
