Springtime is one of my most favorite times of the year. Everything is blooming and the weather is perfect. . .usually! It feels good bringing out bright colors and happy sentiments for everyone to enjoy!
For this project I brought out the infamous Mod Podge once again! I will not let it be forgotten!
I really wanted to make something fun that would add some cheer to the room. So I got to brainstorming and came up with lots of yellows, butterflies, sunshine and flashy gemstones!
Okay – Now it was time to put it all together.Â
Here’s How it Went
I found an old square shaped terracotta pot hiding in the backyard. It was a sad little thing that was filthy and hadn’t been used in a while. So I got out some white spray paint to give it a fresh look.

Then I became stumped again. No. . . Scratch that.
Â
While the paint dried, I came up with another idea – hence the Mod Podge.
I ripped up a few pieces of patterned paper with plenty of yellows on them. Then I glued them onto my planter until it was completely covered.
Â
Once everything was dry, I adhered my lettering (made with vinyl and cut out by my Silhouette Cameo): Hello Sunshine . . . perfect!

It Just Needed More
I glued on several craft gemstones to give my pot some more pizzazz and inclued some craft drops around the top rim. Looking good!
While that was drying, I found two pieces of bamboo and used my Cameo again to cut out some butterflies. I glued those onto my bamboo and planned on using those later when the project was complete!
The next step would be to fill my beautiful little pot!
And so I did! I filled it with fresh soil and planted some rosemary I propagated several weeks prior! Once this part was done, I added my butterfly bamboo sticks as the final piece to my project! Voila! All done!
This was a very fun project to work on. It give me an opportunity to start with a blank slate and use my creativity as I went! This would make a nice and cheery gift for someone! I hope you give it a try! For other plant projects, check out the Succulent Pumpkin or the Saint Patrick’s Day Flower Arrangement posts!
