With Spring weather here–or at least on the horizon, Easter cannot be forgotten! This is one of the most therapeutic times of the year for me.

Cool morning dew, slightly warm afternoons, green hills and blooming flowers everywhere. It’s almost surreal at times.

It’s the type of season you really just hope never ends. Everything is so crisp with new beginnings. It’s the type of magic you can really only get at this time.

Family gatherings and Easter eggs waiting to be colored and hidden. That was my life as a child, at least. Some things just stay with you forever.

These days, things are much different. Now I am the one preparing all of the decorations (including the Happy Easter Z Fold card!) looking forward to a nice time with family and friends on the big day!
How it starts
The first thing I do is start thinking about cards. Yes. Easter cards.

Sometimes these are those unexpected items that show up in the mailbox. Let’s face it, not everyone sends out Easter cards . . . until someone like me comes along!

I think they really help set the mood in finalizing the fact that Spring has sprung. You get a card and put it in a place where everyone can see it. Before you know it, you’re buying Easter candy, baskets and all sorts of goodies. It all started with that card reminding you day in and day out that a special holiday is coming up.
What kind of card?
This year I chose to make a Happy Easter Z fold card—a simpler version of the double Z fold card that I recently made.

The design is very simple which is great if you want to send out a bunch to friends and family.
Once you create the basic fold, the best part has yet to come!
Cotton Tails
My favorite part! Cotton balls are a fun material to use when decorating this one! I made a bunny cutout, got some lettering and attached those both to the card. Then I got a little dot of cotton and stuck it onto the bunny’s bottom to add a little fun dimension to my card.
And then, as an extra sort of surprise I added a tiny die cut of a leaping rabbit to the back of the card!
Let’s talk Z fold card dimensions
Cut out a piece of cardstock measuring 8 3/4” x 4 3/4”
Score vertical lines at 2 1/2” and 5 3/4”
Fold accordingly to create a peak and a valley so your card folds correctly
Cut out some additional panels on some decorative paper measuring 2”x 4” and 3 3/4” x 4” and glue those to the card.
Decorate to your liking with lettering and Easter themed cutouts. Don’t forget to use cotton balls if you’re using bunnies! Once complete, get ready to send these out to kick off the Easter season in style!
