Gap Fold Card Tutorial – Thank You

This is another fun tutorial that is as easy or as complicated as you want to make it. I opted with the more simpler version on this one. Either way, it is an elegant style that can be used for any occasion.

In my case, I decided to create a Thank You card using a few different colors of cardstock and a limited number of cuts.

I’ll show you how it’s done.

Materials

  • Cardstock (in various colors and designs)

  • Craft Glue

  • Clear Craft drops

The Tutorial

  • Cut out a piece of cardstock measuring 6 ¼” x 9” and fold it in half.

  • Use either a pre-cut piece of paper lettering or one made on a paper cutting device like the Silhouette Cameo to cut out your preferred greeting. In my case, I used “Thank You.” I chose to use lettering that was in cursive just so that most of it would be linked together in minimal pieces of paper.

  • Next cut a section out of the front of your card to create the gap. I removed a section measuring measuring 2” down. Then cut ½” off of the separated piece to create the gap.

  • Glue the “Thank You” between the gap linking everything back together in to one piece.

  • Adhere an additional piece of decorative cardstock behind the front flap of the card. Then add a more plain piece of cardstock to the back for a place to write.

  • Lastly, cut out any additional decorative sentiments to glue to the front and inside of the card (I used leaves).

  • Then add some additional craft glue for any desired dimension to the sentiments as well as anywhere else on the card (I added it to the leaves and dotted the front of the card to make it look similar to water drops).

  • Now the card is complete!
