This is one of my favorite go-tos for family functions! It’s a recipe that can be prepared quickly and it creates satisfaction all the way around. Partner this one up with some tortilla chips and you’ll be all set!
An unusual tool I always use to mash up the avocado is a muddler. Yes, that’s right – one of those items used to make certain types of cocktails. It just happened on a whim and I will never turn back. If a muddler is unavailable a fork or spoon will work just fine, of course. But there is just something about the rigid surface on this tool that mashes the avocado up to perfection!
If you’re in the mood for more of an entree, try adding this creation to homemade burritos, tostadas or tacos. Just about everything in the ingredients list can be grown and freshly picked in your own backyard – or found in the produce department of your favorite grocery store. Either way, it’s something that is fresh and healthy! There is just something about this thought that makes it that much more special.
Ingredients
2 avocados
¼ of a yellow onion finely chopped
1 roma tomato chopped
½ clove of garlic minced
1 very small handful of cilantro chopped
garlic salt to taste (I used half a teaspoon)
juice of one whole traditional lime or 4 key limes
Directions
Remove the avocados from the pit/peel and mash them up in a bowl until it is to your preferred chunkiness level.
Add in rest of the ingredients and slowly mix everything together with a spoon without reducing the chunkiness of the avocado. Take a taste test to determine if the amount of saltiness is satisfactory.
Once the flavor is just right, grab some tortilla chips and enjoy immediately!
