Layered Aperture Card

This is a fun card that is simple and easy to make. Yet at the same time, it’s very classy looking!

I decided that this would be a good fit for this year’s Mother’s Day card! I hope she loves it!

How to make an Aperture Card

I started with a 6”x10” piece of cardstock and folded it in half to make the basic foundation of my card.

Then I grabbed a couple of oval layering dies and made my first cutout into the card and the second cutout into a decorative piece of cardstock to create the aperture.

Next, I glued the decorative piece of cardstock to the inside of the card so that the edges peak out on the front.

I created my Happy Mother’s Day lettering with some vinyl on my Silhouette Cameo and adhered it into the oval on the inside of the card.

After that I started decorating. I cut out various butterflies with different sized dies and glued them onto the front and inside. Lastly, I used some craft drops to add some dimension and character to create the final product!

Now my card was complete!

Final Thoughts

I make my mother a card every year for Mother’s Day. She always keeps a handful of my creations on display in her house. It’s nice to see that she likes them enough to keep them out to admire regularly. I love my mom and am excited to see what her reaction will be to this year’s piece!

Happy Mother’s Day to my mom and all of the mothers out there!

Enjoy!
