A Sign of Love

It’s time to bring out all the pinks and reds again! Valentine’s day is right around the corner—and just like any other holiday, I like to start early!

I have all these pieces of wood laying around from previous projects and decided a Happy Valentine’s Day sign would be my first project! Also I also wanted to practice cutting vinyl with my Silhouette Cameo and transferring it! My first time! So it was the perfect opportunity!

How I did it

Start by painting a piece of wood your preferred background color and let dry. In the meantime, move onto the Cameo and type up the message you will be cutting out in the Silhouette Studio. In my case, I typed up Happy Valentine’s Day and sent it to cut.

Once your message is cut out, very carefully remove the extra vinyl and try not to disturb the lettering. Then press some transfer paper over the message and carefully lift it ensuring the letters do not change position.

After the message is safely sticking to the transfer paper, place it onto of your freshly painted sign that should now be dry. Use the burnisher to make sure each letter adheres to the sign tightly. Then carefully lift the transfer paper up slowly and you will find that the vinyl will stay on the sign beneath it.

Now it’s time to to decorate! Find some gems, glitter dots or anything to your liking that can be placed around the lettering for a little more sparkle!

To Hang

The final stage of this project is to make this sign an actual sign! So take two small eyelet screws and screw them in manually on the top of either side of the sign. Once they are secured, find some red ribbon and thread it through, tie it up and now you will be able to hang your project onto the wall!
