As I was finishing up wrapping all my Christmas gifts, I decided that I wanted to make them extra special this year. I would hand make all of my gift tags! That’s what I would do! I’d spend some time making them unique and thoughtful. Every gift would be adorned with beautiful never seen before types of gift tags! My gift recipients would smile and tell me how impressed with my work they are! There’s more where those came from. You just wait until next year! I would smile back satisfied.
Pleasant Thoughts Crushed
Then I realized something. The scenario would go more like: My gift recipients would produce a quick smile upon seeing my fancy “To/From” gift tags, rip them off the gifts
and let the tag drop onto the floor. They would move onto tearing into the gift while my precious gift tags would never be given a second thought.
And it would repeat! Gift after gift would be torn open with excitement and glee while all of the hard work that went into making the gift tags would fall to the floor and soon be thrown into the garbage can never to be seen or thought of again! My time well wasted, I say!
The solution – A basic tag with a “charm” to keep forever
That’s right. I found a way out of this predicament. I’ll make the tags—I won’t even spend a whole lot of time on them. But in comes another element! Festive magnets attached to the basic tag that can be forever cherished on one’s refrigerator or other metal device!
It’s quite simple. You’ll only need some magnetic paper, a die cutting machine, your favorite dies and some festive paper to attach to the magnets.
I’ll show you
Step one: Find some magnetic paper preferably the kind with an adhesive on one side (now you can avoid glue in this project).
Step two: Use a die cutting machine to cut out your shape on the magnetic paper. Place the die on the adhesive side so that it will line up with your decorative paper later.
Step three: Use your decorative paper and cut out the same shape again.
Step four: Remove the adhesive paper from the magnet and attach the decorative paper. Now you have your holiday magnet that can be attached to your basic gift tag that will be kept forever! Merry Christmas!
