It’s Snowing Marshmallows

I have another ornament tutorial that will allow you to snack on your materials as you go!  I’ve really been getting into using foods or natural materials for my ornament projects over the last couple of years.

Today I bring you marshmallows and toothpicks!!

I know. What?! Trust me. Snowflakes! Huh? Keep reading. . .

Yummy Materials

Marshmallows and toothpicks are the most basic materials needed to make a simple version of the snowflake. I come across images of of these online from time to time.  They’re super cute! So I decided to make my own version but larger with more pizzazz!

Step 1: Grab one large marshmallow and a big handful of mini marshmallows along with toothpicks. Also set aside some glue, decorative gemstones, glitter drops or whatever else you might want to decorate your snowflake with later.

Step 2: Assemble them as shown below. Now your basic snowflake is complete.

Step 3: Time to decorate! I glued some gemstones to each outer marshmallow and glitter drops to all of the rest except the large center marshmallow.  I also added some glitter drops to the toothpicks as well.

Step 4: Cut out your favorite holiday die phrase and glue it to the center. Find some festive holiday ribbon and tie it to the top of your snowflake in a loop. Now you have your Marshmallow Snowflake Christmas Ornament!

Step 5: (Optional) If you want to to hang your snowflake from a light fixture repeat all of the decorative steps on the opposite side.

Step 6: Hang up and enjoy!

Side note:  I waited until the next day before hanging my snowflake. It allows the marshmallows to harden a little bit making the snowflake structure much more stable.
